Kielce is a city with almost 200,000 inhabitants and is the economic and tourist capital of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. The excellent location between Krakow and Warsaw makes it a city with high development potential.
Due to its unique geological values, Kielce is often called „the largest open-air geological museum.” In April 2021, thanks to many years of efforts of the partnership initiative „Geopark Świętokrzyski”, the area covering the communes of Kielce, Chęciny, Morawica, Nowiny and Piekoszów, obtained the prestigious UNESCO World Geopark certificate. The unique values of Kielce, ideal for the development of active tourism, are also proven by the fact that almost 50% of the city’s area is constituted by valuable natural areas, including 5 nature reserves, with the most popular Kadzielnia reserve. It is at Kadzielnia that you can ride one of the longest ziplines in Poland, measuring over 500 meters, and visit the 140-meter-long cave system. In the summer season, you can take part in one of numerous concerts in the Kadzielnia Amphitheater.
Due to the topography of the terrain, Kielce is also an ideal place for cycling. Several bicycle routes run through the city, including the longest bicycle route in Poland, Green Velo. In winter, you can also go skiing in Kielce and the immediate vicinity. For lovers of skiing, there are 7 modern, snow-covered ski slopes with the necessary facilities. Among the numerous museum facilities recommended for visiting, a special place is occupied by the Center for Patriotic and Civic Thought, which is a former prison in Kielce, the Museum of Toys and Play, which has one of the largest collections of toys in Poland, and the Stefan Żeromski Museum located in the building of the school attended by, among others, : Stefan Żeromski, Bolesława Prus and Gustaw Herling-Grudziński. A real pearl of 17th-century architecture from the Vasa era is also the former Palace of the Bishops of Krakow, now the National Museum. After a long day of sightseeing, you can relax in the beautifully situated Botanical Garden.
